G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî (/ˌqiʤoˈsɘvɪ/ /këˈqɘʃɘ/ [messy] [passenger]) is a subtropical Town located in Fayvale Dutchy, Èjila Provence, within the Dalandic Empire.

The name G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî is derived from the Iron Elvish language, as G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî was founded by Tshëîv Brêrê, who was culturaly Iron Elven.

Climate

G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî has a yearly average temperature of 24°C (75°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 26°C (78°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 23°C (73°F). G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî receives an average of 282 cm/y (111 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 2860 m (9383 ft) above sea level.

Overview

G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî was founded durring the early 12th century in winter of the year 1111, by Tshëîv Brêrê. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî was built using the conventions of Iron Elven durring the early 12th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature stone brick construction with most buildings posessing towers, turrets, dormers, and wide wrap-around porches. An extreem emphasis on decorative features and emblishments can be seen even on the poorest of homes and makes even the most humble of structures seem a bit regal.

G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî is buildings are grouped arround an odd layout of restrictive flagstone streets, which seems to be based on an overlapping squair patern such that there are small squares at the cornor of every bigger square. Sometimes buildings exist in the smaller squaires, other times they are open spaces, or occupied by temporary structures. The town has a defencive wall made from querried stone. The wall is equipped with a full set of battlments but the nature of its construction methodology leaves it somewhat vulnerable to siege equipment. That said, the town is well defended against anything short of an army. The cost-cutting-focused defences has suffered a visible ammount of structural damage, leaving them effectivly useless. One can't help but wonder why the has not yet effected repairs.

A look around G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî shows G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî is little more than a wretched hive of scum and villainy. Birbes can be seen changing hands openly, such that it must be customary to do so and must have been for a long time. The locals have no fear, no annoyance at the state of things, it simply is.

Civic Infrastructure

G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî's parks.

G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî's grid is powered by mana accumulators.

G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî's natural decorations nor waterways.

G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

There’s a relatively new religion in G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî which is rapidly gaining power. It might be a sectarian offshoot of a major faith, the unique product of a new prophet, or an outside faith backed by wealthy and powerful foreign supporters. Depending on the demands made on believers, the new faith may be a matter of concern only to the existing clergy, or it might be a major flashpoint for conflict in the community.

G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known primarily for its use of abstraction and simplicity. Clean lines, right angles, and primary colors characterized this aesthetic and art movement expressed via architecture and paintings. Its design ethos allows only primary colors and non-colors, only squares and rectangles, only straight and horizontal or vertical lines. Vertical and horizontal lines are positioned in layers or planes that do not intersect, thereby allowing each element to exist independently and unobstructed by other elements. These seemingly impossible principals for an architectural style coalesces into structures which most experts find hard to put into words. It is not that their geometry is impossible, but rather the style's attempt at producing works only describable visually was most successful..

G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves ritual combat to channel Elven High Magic energies of tier 2 via recitation of poetic epics.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî lost 275 people, 273 livestock, and 40 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 66, when members of G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî's militia enacted an operation to defend a particular 's family member, and ensure they remain out of enemy hands. The operation was complicated by a trusted officer who turned traitor and defects. The conflict ended with an assault and siege on the research site, which ended in a stalemate for G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî's forces. The war is remembered in legend by G̈ithë-këqêthê Bî's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
